New York is often quoted as being the worst city for owning a car. That may well be, but Paris is definitively a close second. In the narrow streets of the older arrondissements (municipal subdivisions), parking space is rare. Because motorists often park “by ear”, pushing other cars for- and backwards to make more room, it is highly recommended to park without engaging the parking brake to avoid damage to bumpers and fenders.
